The Applied Research Institute for Prospective Technologies

The Applied Research Institute for Prospective Technologies

Applied Research Institute for Prospective Technologies has been Lithuania’s leading industrial research center in renewable energy technologies since 2005.

As part of the Design Wings project, the institute is developing a visual identity system and a brandbook aimed at bridging the communication gap between science and society. Currently, many innovations—especially those emerging from research institutions—remain inaccessible to socially vulnerable groups, such as residents of social housing or seniors, due to unclear or overly technical presentation.

The proposed design solution will make technology recognizable, understandable, and approachable to a broader audience. It will also empower target groups to actively engage in the adoption of energy-saving solutions. According to public data, approximately 18,000–20,000 people live in social housing in Lithuania. Clear communication will foster trust in environmentally friendly innovations, contributing to energy efficiency, cost reduction, and improved quality of life.

The design solution will serve as a long-term tool for the institute, used not only during the project but also beyond it—ensuring continuity of social impact.

The Postpartum Depression Center

The Postpartum Depression Center

The Postpartum Depression Center is dedicated to supporting the emotional well-being of mothers and their families. It helps them navigate challenges and rediscover the joy of motherhood. The center offers free individual and group consultations, along with other mental health services for mothers and their family members.

Its team also educates healthcare professionals on how to recognize and respond appropriately to postpartum depression, while raising public awareness to help prevent it and improve maternal mental health across Lithuania.

As part of the Dizaino sparnai project, the center’s visual identity will be refreshed, and a new line of branded materials and souvenirs will be designed. A stronger visual identity—reflecting the center’s credibility and experience—will build trust among professionals and parents, attract those in need of support, and encourage collaboration.

The new design system will help the organization represent itself more effectively at events and in public spaces, contributing to stigma reduction and expanding its reach. The souvenir line will also support fundraising efforts by engaging sponsors and generating resources for services aimed at the center’s target audiences.

The updated logo and identity will ensure consistent communication, enhance recognition, and convey the organization’s values and mission. It will help the center stand out among similar service providers. Branded materials and products will enable clearer, broader outreach, support education, and attract new clients. During events, they will foster more interaction and present the organization as modern and trustworthy. Souvenirs are expected to play a key role in attracting sponsors and securing funding for ongoing activities.

Charity and Support Foundation “VA Caritas socialiniai projektai”

Charity and Support Foundation “VA Caritas socialiniai projektai”

“Žvakių dirbtuvės” (Candle Workshop) was established by "Caritas" of the Archdiocese of Vilnius with the aim of supporting individuals who lack essential social and professional skills, making it difficult for them to find or sustain long-term employment. During their temporary work placement at the workshop, participants learn the tools and techniques of candle-making, develop teamwork and communication skills, and improve time management, task planning, and other professional and personal competencies.

As part of the "Design Wings" initiative, the project will focus on refreshing the visual identity of this social enterprise and designing new packaging for its handmade candles. This will ensure clear and appealing visual communication, enhance public visibility, and contribute to increased sales.

Higher sales are expected to enable the Candle Workshop to expand its activities and create more employment opportunities for people experiencing social exclusion—such as long-term unemployed individuals, people with disabilities, those affected by homelessness or addiction, and migrants. In doing so, the project will generate greater social impact by fostering inclusion and meaningful engagement within the community.

Pokyčių namai, SP

Pokyčių namai, SP

“Pokyčių namai” is an online platform designed to help individuals quickly and anonymously find a trusted psychologist.

As part of the Design Wings initiative, the project will focus on fundamentally redesigning the user experience of the “Pokyčių namai” mental wellness platform to make it clearer, more intuitive, and user-friendly. Key goals include restructuring the information architecture, streamlining the user journey from first visit to consultation, and highlighting the platform’s unique value through a warm, professional, and emotionally supportive design.

The homepage will serve as an informative gateway to services—clearly communicating what is offered, the benefits, and how to get started. A logical service structure, intuitive account management, and seamless access to consultations will allow users to navigate the process without friction.

The emotional experience will also be enhanced through a cozy, professional design built on clear structure, visual harmony, and readable typography. Design elements will reduce formality and help users feel safe, welcomed, and encouraged to seek support. Additional features will expand service variety and engagement, including podcast access, a reading space for articles, and options for couples and group consultations. Clear calls to action—such as registration, booking a session, or purchasing content—alongside a user-friendly first-session guide will motivate users to take meaningful steps.

These design solutions will directly contribute to social impact by increasing access to psychological support in underserved regions and among vulnerable groups, reducing informational and emotional barriers, building trust in the platform, and helping to destigmatize seeking help. At the same time, they will strengthen the organization itself—boosting consultation bookings, reducing user drop-off, optimizing content use, and clearly communicating “Pokyčių namai” distinct position in the market. This will ensure greater sustainability, growth, and long-term potential to expand social impact.

Marijampolė Seniors and People with Disabilities Day Center Židinys

Rankdarbių skrynia is a social workshop operated by the Marijampolė Seniors and People with Disabilities Day Center Židinys. Its mission is to support the inclusion of individuals with psychosocial disabilities into the open labor market.

As part of the Design Wings initiative, the project will focus on creating new design solutions and accessories for the handmade items produced in the workshop by people with psychosocial disabilities. The aim is to promote employment and social inclusion for working-age individuals in Central Lithuania, while also contributing to a shift in public perception about people living with psychosocial disabilities.

The designer will develop a collection of small objects that are not only aesthetically pleasing but also functional and emotionally resonant - demonstrating that people with disabilities can actively contribute to the creation of desirable, high-quality products. This collection will help unify the visual identity of the organization’s products, enhance brand recognition, and communicate its core values and message.

The project will also strengthen the workshop’s competitive position and support its integration into both the Lithuanian and international markets, fostering a culture of conscious consumption rooted in aesthetics, sustainability, and social impact. The design solutions - including the object collection and its packaging - will serve as tools for driving social change.

By involving people with psychosocial disabilities in the creative process, the project will promote employment, challenge societal stereotypes, and offer participants meaningful opportunities to contribute to product development. This will help reduce social exclusion and foster deeper inclusion.

The design work will become a platform for open and honest dialogue about mental health and disability. The object collection will be used to address sensitive topics that are often overlooked in society, encouraging greater understanding, empathy, and tolerance. Moreover, the packaging will carry a clear social message: people with psychosocial disabilities can and want to be visible in the labor market, creating something beautiful, valuable, and sought-after - taking one more step toward inclusion and lasting social change.

A grupė, Ldt

A grupė, Ldt

A grupė is a weaving factory based in Jonava, operating since 1990. The facility houses weaving, finishing, and sewing departments, producing linen, semi-linen, flat, and terry fabrics.

As part of the Design Wings initiative, the project will focus on developing new fabric patterns and weaving solutions. Using jacquard and dobby looms, the factory will create distinctive and complex designs for linen textiles suitable for both apparel and home décor. Through material experimentation, the team will explore new textures and surfaces, enriching the diversity of their product range.

This creative process is expected to generate social impact by strengthening the competitiveness of a regional enterprise both nationally and internationally. It will encourage consumers to choose locally produced, natural, and sustainable textiles, while also creating new employment opportunities in the region.

A key component of the project is the development of a color palette aligned with international trends for 2027/2028. These curated color directions will bring cohesion to the collection. The project will also include the creation and printing of fabric designs optimized for production, easily integrated into weaving and printing workflows.

Recycled yarns will be incorporated into the design process, alongside an analysis of material properties and production sustainability - reinforcing circular economy principles, reducing environmental impact, and raising consumer awareness about responsible consumption.

Another important direction of the project is the creation of visual assets, exhibition booth designs, and communication materials. This includes a printed leaflet, collection visualizations, a professional textile photoshoot, and the design of exhibition stands for international trade shows such as Première Vision. These efforts will establish a clear visual identity for the company, enhance brand recognition globally, and contribute to the economic growth of local communities.

Dineta, Ldt

Dineta, Ldt

Dineta is an information technology company founded in 2008, specializing in business management solutions - particularly cloud-based accounting software. The company provides tailored IT systems for retail, wholesale, and service sectors.

As part of the Design Wings initiative, Dineta’s accounting system and website have been redesigned to improve user interface (UI) and user experience (UX), creating a more modern, accessible, visually appealing, and functional digital environment. The current system’s complexity and lack of intuitiveness deepen the digital divide - especially for small and regional businesses, NGOs, seniors, and people with disabilities who may lack the skills to navigate digital services smoothly.

The improved design solutions will make it easier for these users to access the accounting system and find the information they need, helping reduce digital exclusion, enhance financial literacy, and promote transparency. In doing so, the project will strengthen social impact by enabling diverse social groups to participate more effectively in economic activity. A clearer, more user-friendly environment will reduce stress, build trust in digital tools, and foster stronger community engagement and long-term positive change.
