Design Wings: a successful start will allow the project to continue in 2024
Launched two years ago, the Wings of Design project successfully completed its pilot phase in 2023. 34 companies, 19 emerging designers and 6 mentors participated. The project provided €26,286 in non-financial support to each company and scholarships to designers.
Companies from all over Lithuania participated in the project to develop a variety of design solutions for their success. For these companies, the emerging designers created packaging, furniture, clothing, website customer experience updates, visual identities and other solutions that reflect the principles of the circular and/or digital economy. The project consists of 1/3 each of product design, UX/UI design and graphic design.
The project has provided the emerging designers with real work experience, exposure to the principles of how a business works, and accelerated their personal and professional development thanks to the mentoring introduced in the project. Six design professionals - mentors - with many years of experience provided the best opportunities for the mentees to develop their knowledge and skills throughout the project.
One of the aims of the project was not only to create design solutions, but also to create a community where business representatives and designers could interact, share experiences and ideas, and learn from each other through training sessions and community meetings. During these meetings, designers presented the solutions they were working on, the stages they were going through, and at the same time a strong sense of community was created.
